Quotes

Jennie Garth: One year, when our oldest daughter Luca was about 8, and our other daughter Lola was 3, we were trying to take their picture for our Christmas card. I even bought the cutest matching red dresses for them to wear, and the girls wouldn’t stop fighting! We finally just snapped a picture of them fighting, and the card said “Tis the season to be jolly.” It’s definitely one of our favorite family cards now.

Jennie Garth: (on being eliminated from “Dancing With the Stars” in the semifinals) I feel like I’ve come so far in this, and I’m so proud of myself–not that I’m gloating. But it was so wonderful what [my dancing partner] Derek Hough was able to do with me. Now I’m just going to enjoy eating all kinds of things now that it’s over!

Jennie Garth: My husband was really supportive at first about me being on Dancing with the Stars, and he still is, but now he’s just like, “Okay, I want my wife back!” I want to go on vacation with him and reconnect.

Jennie Garth: I eat a lot now. I’m always hungry. And when you’re rehearsing [for Dancing with the Stars] for six hours, sometimes you forget to eat. I snack on a lot of energy bars while we’re working, or a banana just to keep me going, and then I’ll eat a giant sandwich. I’m just burning through it. Now I can eat and not worry about it. Like, I love a late-night Dorito. The other night, I went into the kitchen at 2:00 in the morning, cracked open a Sprite, and in the dark, I ate a bag of Doritos.

Jennie Garth: (about her husband’s reaction to her losing weight) He really likes it! He said, “It’s like I got a new car!” He can’t keep his hands off me, to the point where it’s like, “Okay, enough.”

Jennie Garth: It’s hard not to admire Julianne Hough’s body. I look at her and think, “What a nice little tushy!” And then I have to remind myself that she’s 19.

Jennie Garth: (about being on Dancing With the Stars) I had no idea how supportive my husband would end up being. He’s a part of everything! He’s meeting with my partner, Derek Hough, on the side and giving him his opinions on the choreography. He goes out with us for dinner! He’s definitely 100 percent right there for me. Every time I’m feeling down, I call him, and he talks me through it. He also sends me little text messages. Some of them are racy, but you know, he’s Italian!

Jennie Garth: (after falling during a routine on Dancing With the Stars on October 1, 2007, with her husband and 10-year-old daughter present) It was a wardrobe malfunction. Derek slipped on my dress, and we both went down. I was a bit embarrassed, but isn’t falling always embarrassing? All I can say is that to have my daughter here, seeing me make a mistake and get back up is a good lesson for her.

Jennie Garth: (about getting pregnant just less than a year after meeting her husband) We had a baby very quickly. It was a crazy time, and it would have been easy to throw in the towel, but Peter taught me that you have to stick it out. Our marriage is like winning an Oscar; it’s huge. We don’t take it for granted.

Jennie Garth: (about being on “Dancing with the Stars”) My kids are beside themselves. They’re like, “Don’t cry, Mom! Never storm out of the rehearsal room!” Sometimes I think I’ve lost my mind, but at the same time I’m hugely excited. It’s a huge undertaking, though. I’m not in as good a shape as I was before I had my third baby, so it’s a great way to get in shape. I took dance classes as a little girl, but this is a different league. But I’m competitive and excited.

Jennie Garth: I think the media should leave the children of celebrities alone. I, for one, get very upset when someone photographs my kids without my knowledge or consent. It is just wrong. It confuses children, frightens them, and makes them feel like targets. Let them be kids!

Jennie Garth: The balance of life is sometimes very hard…..everything happens so fast. My husband is a great support, and when he is not filming, he is a full participation partner! We have a “nanny” (although I dislike that word), she is more of a friend that I wouldn’t want to be without, and she has been with us for something like 15 years! As far as the balance, I just take it one day at a time, and I make a lot of lists.

Jennie Garth: Peter and I feel very blessed with our children. We didn’t plan any one of them, but higher forces and recognizing priorities helped us along the way.

Jennie Garth: I teach the importance of community service and activism to my children, even at a young age, and hope that other parents……are inspired to do the same.

Jennie Garth: (about landing a spot in the 2007-2008 season of “Dancing With the Stars”) It’s a great opportunity to get in shape. The extra weight from baby number three didn’t go away so quickly.

Jennie: (about working with Amanda Bynes in “What I Like About You”) At least I get to be her sister. Thank God I’m not playing her mother. We get along great. There’s no weird “She’s 16 and I’m 30″ kind of vibe. It’s just easy. She’s like my little sister, and I just love her to pieces.

Jennie: I never met a cow I didn’t like.

Jennie: I know I have the ability to do so much more than just stand in front of the camera the rest of my life.

Jennie: I’ve always been very bonded to animals - more so than most people. I don’t think that they can defend themselves, so we have to help them.

Jennie: It got very aggravating. It never came to a pushing fight, but at times, we probably wanted to slug each other. -on the competition between herself and Shannen Doherty on 90210.

Jennie: I love playing sexy in front of a camera. You either have to go with it or you just feel inhibited.
